Brunch in London

I recently spent a weekend in London with a friend. While we wanted to do some tourist things, the main aim of our trip was to have a well-deserved catch-up. We hadn’t seen each other since November and it was now the end of February. When the two of us go away together, we like to indulge in a little bit of luxury. We opted for the Crowne Plaze Hotel, King’s Cross. However, unlike other trips away, we decided to not include breakfast in our hotel stay. This left us with lots of freedom to explore London and the brunch scene it offers.

As with every girlie catch-up, there was lots to talk about. And when best to talk? Over good food and coffee, of course.

I arrived on Friday from Dublin and while I waited for my friend to arrive from Norfolk, I pottered around Oxford Street, picking up a few bargains along the way. For lunch, I headed to the amazing Deliciously Ella on Weighhouse Street. Seating was limited which resulted in me getting a takeaway salad and grabbing a coffee and a seat in Pret around the corner. From Deliciously Ella I got three salads – Sweet Potato with Turmeric Sauce, Raw Pad Thai and Wild Rice Salad, all topped with chilli flakes. I picked up some nut balls for a work friend too – I was on a mission to get them!

Saturday morning brought us to Camden Town where we settled in to Mildred’s for brunch. I opted for Oak Smoked Beans on Sourdough Toast alongside an americano with oat milk. The table beside us were tucking into Waffles topped with Banana and Ice Cream. That looked unbelievable but not for me at that hour of the day.

Sunday morning, before I headed back to Dublin, we strolled around King’s Cross in the direction of Farringdon. I had planned on taking us to Vinoteca in Farringdon, only to realise it doesn’t open on a Sunday. No harm done, we soon found Exmouth Market Grind, with its very pink interior and excellent food. We ordered a Breakfast Salad and a Breakfast Burrito, both very much enjoyed.

Without a doubt I would visit all three places again – 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
